Returns, Repairs & Exchanges

How I look after your piece, and you, after purchase.

Change of mind: returns and exchanges

I want you to love your piece. If you have purchased a ready-to-ship jewel from me and it is not quite right, I am happy to offer a refund, exchange or credit note within 14 days of the date you receive your order. This change of mind window applies to ready-to-ship pieces only.

To be eligible for a change of mind return:

  • The piece must be unworn and in its original condition, returned with all original packaging, any certificates of authenticity, and any accessories that came with your order.
  • I reserve the right to inspect every returned piece before approving a refund, exchange or credit. If a piece comes back showing signs of wear, damage, alteration or with missing packaging, I will return it to you and no refund or credit will be issued.
  • Original shipping costs are non-refundable.
  • Return postage is at your expense. Please send all returns via an insured, tracked service with signature on delivery. Until the piece is signed for at my studio, it remains your responsibility.
  • For hygiene reasons I cannot accept earrings for return or exchange under this change of mind policy. This does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law if an item is faulty.

How to start a return: please email me at info@adahodgson.com with your order number within the 14 day window. I will reply with a return authorisation and the studio return address. I cannot process returns sent without prior authorisation.

I issue approved refunds to your original payment method within 7 business days of receiving and inspecting the returned piece.

Final sale items

The following pieces are final sale and are not eligible for change of mind refunds, returns, exchanges or credits:

  • Made-to-order pieces
  • Bespoke and custom commissions
  • One-of-a-kind pieces
  • Pieces purchased on sale or at a reduced price
  • Earrings
  • Jewellery on sale

Ring resizing

Some of my rings can be resized up or down slightly, but not all of them. Please get in touch before you purchase so I can confirm whether resizing is possible for the style you have in mind. For made-to-order and bespoke pieces, I size your ring to your specification at the time of order, so I strongly recommend a sizing appointment with me in my Melbourne CBD studio, or using my sizing guide carefully if you are ordering from afar.

Resizing fees:

  • Standard resizing: $100- $300 depending on the piece, the metal and how much it needs re-sizing. This will be assessed in person. I will quote you before performing any works. 
  • Rings set with pearls or opals: $300 (these stones need additional care because of their delicate nature)

Resizing fees do not include return shipping, which I charge separately and send fully insured with signature on delivery.

Repairs

I make every piece with care and I make it to last. If your jewel ever needs a little attention, I offer repairs at reasonable fees depending on the work involved.

To arrange a repair, please email me at info@adahodgson.com with:

  • Your original order number, if you have it
  • A clear description of the issue
  • Photographs of the piece clearly showing the area you are concerned about

I will reply with a quote and instructions for sending the piece in for assessment. Repair turnaround is usually 2 to 4 weeks from the date I receive the piece, depending on the work involved and material availability.

I may also be able to repair pieces that you did not originally purchase from me, at my discretion. Please send photographs and I will let you know what I can do.

Faulty or damaged on arrival

If your piece arrives faulty or damaged, please contact me within 7 days of delivery with photographs of both the piece and its packaging. I will assess the issue promptly and arrange a repair, replacement or refund as appropriate.
