Summer Crush - A Sun-Drenched Collaboration Four Years in the Making

I have been dreaming this collection into being for four years. Summer Crush grew slowly, the way warm days stretch toward summer, collecting colour, light and ideas along the way. It began as a tiny spark between myself and my dear friend, glass artist and jeweller,  Kate Dansey, and now it feels like a little piece of our heart that we finally get to share with you.

From the very beginning, we wanted to create jewellery that felt like treasures discovered at your favourite beach. Soft, glowing pieces that hold the warmth of long afternoons and the sweetness of holiday memories. Kate shaped each heart and shell in glass using traditional lampworking techniques, and I brought them to life in my Melbourne studio, pairing them with recycled precious metals and my own love of handcrafted details. These pieces are not replicas of nature. They are memories of it, captured in colour and light.

Where Jewellery Meets Glass Art

Working together meant weaving two practices that value slowness, intention and imagination. Kate’s lampwork glass hearts glow with a sun kissed translucence that gemstones cannot imitate. Her shells curve with the familiar ripples of tide pool finds, shaped in colours that catch the light like salty seawater. These charms celebrate the beauty of glass artistry and the feeling of discovering treasures along the shoreline.

Once each charm is formed, it travels to my studio where it becomes jewellery. Recycled sterling silver beads pair with delicate chains, playful hoop earrings and a radiant statement choker made entirely of hearts and shells. The resulting pieces have movement and shine. They are wearable reminders of Australian summer jewellery, ready to bring colour and softness to everyday moments.

Every charm is handmade. Every necklace and pair of earrings is assembled slowly and thoughtfully in my Melbourne studio. I want these pieces to feel loved and lived in. Glass naturally forms small variations in shape and colour, which I think makes the jewellery feel even more personal. Paired with recycled precious metals and crafted in small batches, each piece is carefully designed and made with love.
